About Me

I've been working with wood as far back as I can remember and I've been playing the guitar since I was twelve. I have a B.S. in Wood Technology from the University of Massachusetts.  I built most of my house myself and I've built numerous pieces of furniture throughout the years.  Most of my working life was spent as a Computer Systems Analyst and Consultant.  Ok, but how did you ever get into building guitars you say ?  Well one day my brother calls me up and says hey come on over and check out my new guitar.  I do and as we are admiring it he says "hey I wonder what it would be like to actually build a guitar".  Something clicked in me.  I was off to the library where I found Guitarmaking: Tradition and Technology.  I took it home, read it cover-to-cover and decided that a guitar would probably be too big for a first project.  Back at the library, I found a book on building a mountain dulcimer.  Here was a manageable first project.  I built the dulcimer (pictured on the "Instruments" page) and it came out so well that I was hooked.  My first guitar came next and it looked, played and sounded great.  I received so much positive feedback on my instruments that I made the decision to do it full time.  So here I am, doing primarily custom one-of-a-kind guitars.  I really love working with the woods, working with my clients and creating instruments that look,  play, and sound beautiful.  Its an honor to be able to create things that bring music, beauty and happiness to other people.  I finally found out what I want to be when I grow up !
